Shamsul Haque Suza

Organizing Secretary of the BPS Executive Committee 2025-27

I am Md. Shamsul Haque Suza, AFIAP, A.APS, Hon. BFPA, a professional photographer, visual artist, photojournalist, visual storyteller, and photography educator based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. With more than four decades of professional experience, I have been actively engaged in photography, visual communication, and development communication, using the power of visual storytelling to document people, culture, and social change.

My areas of expertise include documentary photography, photojournalism, humanitarian issues, development projects, daily life, portrait, street, and travel photography. I believe that a powerful photograph does more than capture a moment—it preserves history, tells compelling human stories, and inspires positive social change.

Throughout my professional career, I served as a Communication Officer at RDRS Bangladesh, where I was responsible for photography, videography, news reporting, graphic design, publications, and visual communication for a wide range of development projects.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with several national and international organizations, including UNDP, Caritas Bangladesh, Counterpart International, NETZ Bangladesh, HEKS/EPER, HarvestPlus, and the Information Commission Bangladesh, producing documentary photography, visual storytelling, video documentation, and communication materials. As a freelance photography consultant, I have also collaborated with renowned organizations such as CARE Bangladesh, Save the Children, World Vision, BRAC, and ARTICLE 19.

Currently, I serve as a Lecturer and Course Coordinator (Photography & Video Documentary) at the Dhaka Photographic Institute, while also working as a Photojournalist for The Daily Global Nation.

I am currently the Organizing Secretary of the Bangladesh Photographic Society (BPS) and the Former President of the Bangladesh Freelance Photographers Association (BFPA). I am also a member of the Fédération Internationale de l’Art Photographique (FIAP), France, and remain actively involved in the international photography community.

My professional achievements include prestigious distinctions such as AFIAP (France), A.APS, and Hon. BFPA, as well as the Phoenix National Photography Planet Grant Award 2024, the Bangladesh Press Contest 2023 Category Winner, and more than 200 national and international photography awards and recognitions.

As a photographer, my mission extends beyond creating visually compelling images. I am committed to documenting human lives, cultural heritage, humanitarian values, and development initiatives through meaningful visual narratives that preserve history, inspire awareness, and serve as valuable records for future generations.
