Born on March 1, 1958, Nafis Ahmed Nadvi is a distinguished Bangladeshi photographer renowned for his contributions to the art of photography. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Dhaka University in 1982 and has been an active member of the Bangladesh Photographic Society (BPS), where he was honored with a fellowship in 2010. Throughout his career, Nadvi has received numerous accolades, including the first prize and gold medal at the 2nd National Photo Contest organized by BPS in 1981-1982, and the ACCU Prize at the 8th Photo Contest in Asia and the Pacific in Japan in 1983.
Nadvi’s work has been showcased both nationally and internationally, reflecting his dedication to capturing the essence of Bangladeshi life and culture. In 1981, he captured a compelling image of a convoy of oxcarts in Rangpur, Bangladesh, exemplifying his talent for documenting everyday scenes with artistic depth. Beyond his photographic endeavors, Nadvi has served as a judge for various photography competitions, including the 5th BPS International Photography Competition and Exhibition. His commitment to the photographic community and his artistic achievements have solidified his reputation as a leading figure in Bangladeshi photography.
